This recipe is so easy. Takes appx. 10 min. to put together. I love to make it for a healthier dessert treat, the house smells so good while it’s baking in the oven! I buy the most beautiful, bright green, crisp Granny Smith apples. Or I’ll use apples that aren’t as crunchy as when I go ugh hit them. Tip: slice extra apples and drizzle lemon juice on top and put in a container for easy snacks. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 6 Organic Apples or any of your favorite fruit will work such as: blue berries, black berries, cherries…
- 1/8 cup coconut sugar, maple syrup or agave nectar
- 1/4 cube unsalted butter from grass fed cows or kerrygold brand
- 1 1/2 Tbs. flour
- 1/8 cup water
- 1 pre made pie crust or make your own. Fit fast food tip : buy ready made
- 1 egg beaten for top of crust
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In small microwave safe bowl, add butter, coconut sugar (agave or maple syrup), water and microwave until warm. Mix well
Slice or cut apples into chucks. I leave the skin on for more texture and nutrients. Plus it’s faster! Put apples in mound on pie crust, in pie pan sprayed with non stick or lined with parchment paper. Gently pour the butter mixture over the top. Lattice the 2nd crust accross the top, scallop (pinch) edges to lock in heat. Brush egg over top. Make small slits in top of pie to let steam escape. I like to make a smiley face. lol.
Bake 425 degrees 15 min. reduce to 350 degrees and bake 25 min. until filling bubbly. Serve with unsweetened Greek yogurt and sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg. Or coconut vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (10 cal. per Tbs.) what!? 😍
