Aloha Flex Appealers! My Bodybuilder Base Mix Recipe or aka BBBM is a must have recipe that I have been making since the bodybuilding days.
I actually won my 1st bodybuilding contest back in the day and was named Ms. Border States in the light weight division. The trophy was so huge it was literally bigger than I am. I vividly remember hearing my father yelling, “That’s my son!” from the audience as I did the extreme ab pose. lol.
I named this recipe the BBBM because it’s a base mix and so versatile that it can be used in endless dishes. I make a double batch every week so that my family and I can easily reheat it and add to other food(s): eggs, on brown rice, in tacos or eat by itself.
1 Tbs. minced garlic and/or onion
1 carton extra lean ground turkey
1 can each black beans and kidney beans drained and rinsed
3 Tbs. or 1 package LOW SODIUM NO NITRATE NO MSG Taco Seasoning or make your own here
1 cup water
Heat pan on medium with a little cooking oil. I don’t like non stick sprays unless the only ingredients are oil. Use a non flavored oil, not coconut oil. When pan is hot, add garlic and onion. Stir until translucent. Add turkey and brown. Add taco seasoning and mix well. Add water and fold in beans. Cover and simmer on lowest setting for 15 minutes stirring 1-2 times. Store in glass containers.
