Bulk Buys: Fit Foods I Always Buy at Trader Joes & Costco

Hi Fit Friends! One of the easiest ways to eat healthfully, stay energized & keep your blood sugar levels even to prevent mood swings, is to make sure you have healthy food in the house. Sounds easy right? Well not really, especially if you have a very active, hungry family. Food seems to disappear right after I buy it! So every week, I buy Fit Foods in bulk for the week. This week I went to Trader Joes & Costco, but you can go to any Big Box stores near you: Stater Brothers, etc. Here are the Top Fit Foods I purchase regularly.

WE GO CRAZY FOR ALL THE BEAUTIFUL FRESH FRUIT. THE BANANAS ARE A GREAT PRICE AND I ALWAYS BUY 2-3 DOZEN. I PEEL AND FREEZE A DOZEN FOR SMOOTHIES AND PROTEIN SHAKES. I PICK SMALLER BANANAS FOR THE KIDS LUNCHES. I L O V E FRESH PINEAPPLE, FUJI APPLES, HONEY CRISP APPLES, SWEET POTATOES, BEETS, AVOCADO, CUTIE TANGERINES, ORANGES, WATERMELON, GRAPES, BLUEBERRIES… I COULD GO ON FOREVER. BUT THE TRICK IS NOT TO BUY TOO MUCH OR IT WILL SPOIL I ALSO BUY KALE SALAD KITS, & INDIVIDUAL HUMMUS PACKS.

FROZEN FRUIT FOR PROTEIN SHAKES AND SMOOTHIES. FROZEN FRUIT LASTS LONGER & IS USUALLY MORE RIPE THAN FRESH FRUIT SINCE IT’S PICKED AT IT’S PEAK RIPENESS. PLUS, THERE IS LESS WASTE, SOMETIMES WE DON’T EAT ALL THE FRUIT AND IT SPOILS ๐Ÿ™

FROZEN PROTEIN FOR LAST MINUTE MEALS. I LIKE MAHI MAHI, SALMON, SCALLOPS, SHRIMP. IT’S CONVENIENT TO HAVE IN THE FREEZER.

FROZEN EDAMAME SOYBEANS, LOVE THESE FOR SALADS OR HEALTHY PROTEIN SNACK. I BUY 2 TYPES: IN SHELL THAT YOU POP IN THE MICROWAVE AND STEAM AND SPRINKLE WITH SEA SALT. AND THE PRESHELLED VERSION FOR SALADS.

LOVE THE PRE-MINCED GARLIC. IT MAKES COOKING SO MUCH EASIER. I USE THIS DAILY FOR EVERYTHING. STAYS REALLY FRESH TOO!

WE LOVE SPARKLING WATER. MAKE SURE THAT THE INGREDIENTS ARE ONLY WATER AND NATURAL FLAVORING NOTHING ELSE. SO MANY SPARKLING WATERS ON THE MARKET HAVE SUCRALOSE, FRUCTOSE, AKA SUGAR AND A ZILLION HORRIBLE CHEMICALS. REMEMBER IF YOU CAN’T PRONOUNCE IT, DON’T BUY IT. I ALWAYS READ THE NUTRITIONAL BREAKDOWNS AND INGREDIENTS OF EVERYTHING. I TRIED THE SODA MAKING MACHINE BUT DIDN’T LIKE IT. THE WATER DIDN’T STAY FIZZY IN THE REGRIGERATOR. I DID LIKE THE FACT IT CUTS DOWN ON PLASTIC BOTTLES AND ALUMINUM CANS THOUGH.

LOVE SOY MILK, ALMOND MILK, COCONUT MILK, CASHEW MILK…FOR SMOOTHIES AND CREAMY PROTEIN SHAKES. ALSO DELISH ON OATMEAL ๐Ÿ™‚ KEEP IN MIND THE VANILLA HAS MORE SUGAR THAN THE PLAIN UNFLAVORED

I ALWAYS HAVE A CARTON OF FRESH PRE-WASHED SPINACH AND ARUGULA IN THE REFRIGERATOR. I HAVE A DAILY GREEN DRINK THAT I MAKE WITH A HANDFUL OF SPINACH, COCONUT WATER OR SOY MILK, (OR WATER AND A TINY SPLASH OF ORANGE JUICE), VANILLA PROTEIN POWDER, FROZEN PINEAPPLE, CHIA SEEDS & A FROZEN BANANA. SOOOOOOO REFRESHING AND HEALTHY AND AN EASY WAY TO GET A FEW SERVINGS OF FRUITS & VEGS.

I ALWAYS HAVE A FEW JARS OF COCONUT OIL IN THE KITCHEN, I USE IT FOR SO MANY THINGS. MAKING PROTEIN CANDY, MAKING COCONUT PANKO CHICKEN, COOKING, MOISTURIZER, HAIR CONDITIONER… ALL COCONUT OILS ARE NOT THE SAME. MY MOM BOUGHT ONE AT WALMART AND IT SMELLED HORRIBLE LIKE GREASE OR VASELINE. THE BEST ONE I’VE FOUND IS AT TRADER JOES. IT’S ORGANIC, PURE AND SMELLS LIKE COCONUT AS IT SHOULD.

TRADER JOES HAS A BEAUTIFUL SELECTION OF ORCHIDS ALL UNDER $20. I ALWAYS PICK THEM UP. I LOVE THEM IN EVERY ROOM ๐Ÿ™‚

LOVE OLIVE OIL FOR COOKING AND USE IT DAILY. I LOVE THE LARGE BOTTLE AT TRADER JOES THAT COMES WITH THE POURING SPOUT. I PUT CANOLA OIL IN A PRETTY GLASS BOTTLE. I USE FLAKE SEA SALT WHICH I KEEP IN A WHITE MASON JAR. SPICES I REGULARLY USE SUCH AS PEPPER AND RED PEPPERS I KEEP IN CLEAN MASON JARS.

NEVER FAILS, MY DAUGHTERS ALWAYS TRY AND PUT NOT-SO-HEALTHY SNACKS IN THE CART! I USUALLY LET THEM PICK 1. HAVE TO ADMIT THE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES ARE AMAZING.
